Galeria 54 presenta Desierto Vivo, una muestra colectiva curada por Lesdavag. La exposición surge de los viajes del artista a través del vasto y aparentemente árido paisaje de los desiertos de Sonora y Chihuahua y sus fronteras impuestas. Las piezas seleccionadas, de diferentes soportes, pretenden evocar la naturaleza alienante pero purif icadora del desierto, obligándonos a enfrentarnos a cuestiones de vida o muerte.
El sol abrasador y el f río penetrante aumentan las dualidades en un paisaje a la vez desorientador y onírico. En la tradición oral, el desierto es a la vez un espacio de exilio y una oportunidad de redención.
Históricamente, el desierto ha brindado vida a las comunidades indígenas que comprenden su abundancia, pero también ha sido la muerte de migrantes que no estaban preparados para sus condiciones extremas. Como un lienzo en blanco, este espacio de transición of rece una invitación a la soledad y la reflexión. La vida en el desierto está oculta: yaciendo latente bajo la arcilla agrietada, las arenas movedizas y las cáscaras arrugadas, hay un mundo inmensamente vibrante.
El metal, el adobe y la madera se unen para invocar la resiliencia necesaria para habitar y navegar este árido paisaje, mientras que materiales como la resina evocan imágenes del impulso de la humanidad por crear permanencia.
Del mismo modo, las obras de arte multimedia y bidimensionales aspiran a emular la naturaleza alucinante de este terreno surrealista. Desierto Vivo extiende una invitación a la reflexión, instando a los visitantes a observar el signif icado intrínseco detrás de las materias primas que nos rodean en la extensión del desierto.

Desierto Vivo is a group show curated by Lesdavag. The exhibition emerges from the artist’s journeys across the vast and seemingly barren landscape of the Sonoran and Chihuahuan deserts and their imposed borders. The selected pieces, of varying media, aim to evoke the alienating yet purifying nature of the desert, forcing us to confront questions of life and death.
The scorching sun and penetrating cold augment the dualities in a landscape that is at once disorienting and dreamlike. In oral tradition, the desert is both a space of exile and an opportunity for redemption.
Historically, the desert has provided life to indigenous communities that understand its abundance but have also been the demise of migrants unprepared for its extreme conditions. Like a blank canvas, this transitional space offers an invitation for solitude and reflection. Life in the desert is hidden– lying dormant beneath the cracked clay, shifting sands, and shriveled husks- a vastly vibrant world.
Metal, adobe, and wood come together to invoke the resilience required to inhabit and navigate this arid landscape, while materials like resin conjure images of humanity’s drive to create permanence.
Similarly, multimedia and two-dimensional artworks aspire to emulate the hallucinatory nature of this surreal terrain. Desierto Vivo extends an invitation to ponder, urging visitors to observe the intrinsic meaning behind the raw materials surrounding us in the desert's expanse.
